National Honor Society (NHS) is a nationwide organization that was established in 1921 to recognize outstanding high school students. Student members of NHS have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. There are an estimated one million members in NHS in all 50 states, as well as other US territories and Canada. We are thrilled to get our NHS chapter up and running this spring.
If you would like to read more about NHS, please visit http://www.nhs.us/.
We will begin to contact students who have the Scholarship requirement (3.0) in the next couple of weeks. Parents and students will then be asked to attend an online information session and then students will fill out an application in which they describe their Leadership, Service, and Character in order to be chosen to be inducted with our first class this spring.

The Boys & Girls Club of Metro Denver and Provost Academy Colorado have partnered to form a new education offering, a blended learning experience that will be housed at the Denver Broncos Branch. This partnership will provide students with onsite support from a quality teaching staff, plus access to over one hundred online courses and individualized, in-person instruction. It is truly the best of both worlds.
The new Provost Academy Learning Center is focused on graduating our students and achieving college and career readiness. We will work with every student to provide business internships, college credit, and service learning projects, as well as real-world networking opportunities. Each of these offerings provides our students with the opportunity to expand their learning experiences beyond the standard curriculum with real-world experiences to help build their social interaction skills and self-confidence.
We have 30 seats available for this new educational offering and we are now enrolling. The first day of school at the center will be Monday, September 19th and we are accepting students in 9th through 12th grades. Call 855-505-9055 for more information.

Provost Academy Colorado held its first commencement ceremony on June 4, 2011 at the Wings Over the Rockies in the The Lowry Room at 11:15 a.m. Surrounded by a historic exhibit providing a visual tour of the history of the former Lowry Air Force Base, Mr. Audie Rubin, Executive Director of Provost Academy Colorado presented diplomas to the following students:
· Andrea Austin
· Jeremy Hilleary
· Daniel Smith
The ceremony kicked-off with Nicholas Glaser, a PACOL tenth-grader, performing his version of “Pomp and Circumstance” as the PACOL faculty and graduates marched into the ceremony. Nick auditioned for the opportunity through YouTube. To view the version he played at graduation, please visit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5PCmYPIULc&feature=channel_video_title. Mr. Ian Jones, Director of Instruction, then read The North Star by Peter H. Reynolds. Mr. Rubin then spoke to the graduates, encouraging them to reflect on their journey so far, anticipate another series of adventures, and be mindful of the support that surrounds them as they go. After the graduates received their diplomas, a cake and punch reception provided time for the students, families, and PACOL staff to celebrate and discuss future plans.
Next year, Jeremy Hilleary will attend the University of Colorado at Denver. He will study journalism with a focus on sports writing, as that is his primary interest. Andrea Austin plans to attend State University of New York at New Paltz to also study journalism. Daniel Smith plans to first attend a community college in the Denver area and then begin his studies in video editing.
Provost Academy Colorado and EdisonLearning are proud to congratulate the Class of 2011!
